Died on Tuesday (2), at the age of 91, the journalist Mino Carta. The founder and director of writing of Carta Capital magazine was hospitalized for two weeks in the ICU of Syrian Lebanese Hospital in São Paulo. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Born in Genoa, Italy, Demetrio, better known as Mino, was part of the third generation of family journalists, a tradition started by maternal grandfather Luigi Becherucci. His father, Giannino, was also a journalist. The family immigrated to Sao Paulo in August 1946.
Mino was married to Maria Angelica Pressoto, who died in 1996. One of her children, also journalist Gianni Carta, died in 2019, a cancer victim. He leaves his daughter, Manuela Letter.
The journalist marked the area by consecrating himself as founder and director of important vehicles such as the Veja, Istoé and the traditional Jornal da Tarde, Estadão.
Mino did not complete the college degree, but was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris by Cásper Líbero College. In November 2006, he received the most prominent Brazilian Journalist Award in the year of the Foreign Press Correspondents Association in Brazil (ACIE).
