China is testing a new solution to the risk of fire in electric car batteries. These are sensors identify overheating and shoot the component out of the car.
The tests were performed at a Chery ICAR 03T adhesive with the Logo of the Research and Technology Center in China vehicle collisions repair. In the video, the car ejects the battery at high speed, making the component move away from the car. According to comments on the social network, the battery travels from 3 to 6 meters away from the vehicle.
Chery, ICAR automaker, denied participation in the experiment.
The intention is to prevent the car from taking fire, pushing the overheated battery away before it provokes the fire, but also disregards possible accidents with the vehicle’s near. The battery can be thrown to a sidewalk and reach pedestrians, as well as the possibility of hitting other cars on the side.
