Charlie Sheen knows the way he left Two and a Half Men wasn’t a winner, winner.
After all, the 60-year-old admitted his 2011 firing from the beloved sitcom over his public struggles with drug addiction is a dark spot in his memory.
“I regret that specifically still,” Charlie told People in an interview published Sept. 3. “If I hadn’t done what I had, I could be living a different life right now. All my problems wouldn’t be what they are. But you just don’t know that.”
Since departing the series, which also starred Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jonesthe Wall Street actor—who is dad to daughter Cassandra40, with ex Paula Profitdaughters Sami21, and Lola20, with ex Denise Richardsand twin sons Bob and Max16, with ex Brooke Mueller—began his sobriety journey and has worked on tackling the destruction his addiction caused.
“Forgiveness is still an evolving thing,” Charlie continued. “I still get what I call the ‘shame shivers.’ These are the moments that hit me, of the heinous memories and choices and consequences. They’re getting farther in between, so I guess that’s progress.”
