The Brazilian production of oil and natural gas reached a historic milestone in July. For the first time, the country exceeded 5 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (Boe/D). According to data released on Monday (1) by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), an average of 5.16 million barrels per day were produced.
The volume represents the highest level ever recorded by the regulator, consolidating a growth of 5.3% over the previous month. Compared to July 2024, the advance was even more significant, up 23.3% in total production.
Considering only oil, extraction reached 3.959 million barrels a day in July. This number represents a growth of 5.4% compared to June and 22.5% compared to the same month last year.
Natural gas production reached 190.89 million cubic meters per day. In the monthly comparison, there was an increase of 5.1%. Compared to July 2024, the growth was 26.1%, according to the ANP newsletter.
The pre-salt played a decisive role for the record. Production in the region reached 4.077 million Boe/D, corresponding to 79.1% of the national total. This performance was obtained from 169 wells and represents a 5.6% increase compared to June and 24.2% in the annual comparison.
Within this clipping, pre-salt oil production first surpassed the 3 million barrels per day, reaching 3.148 million. Natural gas production was 147.66 million cubic meters per day.
The use of natural gas in July was 97.1%. Of the total produced, 63.81 million cubic meters per day were offered to the market, while 5.48 million were burned. Most, however, were reinjected in the wells themselves to maintain pressure and continuity of exploitation.
