Brazil generated 147,358 new jobs with a portfolio signed in August 2025, according to data released by the Ministry of Labor and Employment on Monday (29).
From January to August, 1.5 million formal vacancies were opened, an increase of 3.18% compared to December 2024. Since the beginning of 2023, the positive balance reaches 4.6 million jobs, raising the total formal bonds to almost 48.7 million.
Four of the five sectors of the economy recorded growth in August. Services led with 81,002 new vacancies, followed by trade (32,612), industry (19,098) and construction (17,328). Only agriculture did not show a significant increase in the month.
Among the states, 25 had a positive balance. São Paulo concentrated the largest number of vacancies created (45,450), followed by Rio de Janeiro (16,128) and Pernambuco (12,692). In percentage terms, Paraíba (1.61%), Rio Grande do Norte (0.98%) and Pernambuco (0.82%) stood out.
Most of the new vacancies are considered typical (75.1%), but there has been growth in non -typical jobs (24.9%), as workers with reduced journey of up to 30 hours per week (40,544, especially in education) and apprentices (20,252).
In the accumulated of the year, all economic sectors had a positive balance. Services lead with 773,385 new vacancies, followed by industry (273,231), construction (194,545), commerce (153,483) and agriculture (107,297). Among the states, São Paulo (436,729), Minas Gerais (152,968) and Paraná (108,778) recorded the main increases.
Employment growth was more expressive among women, which totaled 77,560 new vacancies, compared to 69,798 for men. Adolescents up to 17 years old had 33,710 jobs generated, 19,908 for apprentices. People with completed high school represented 96,442 new vacancies, and workers with disabilities had 820 bonds created.
The average actual admission salary reached R $ 2,295.01 in August, up 0.56% compared to July, when it was R $ 2,282.31, reflecting the appreciation of labor and greater demand for qualified professionals.
