BMW motorcycle has just introduced the Vision CE Conceptan electric scooter concept that features some elements reminiscent of a golf cart.

According to BMWthe idea behind the “exclusive cage design” of the Vision CE Concept “eliminates the need for a helmet or protective clothing.”

However, it’s the bars on top that are causing concern. It seems that anyone taller than 1.60 meters (5’3″) will constantly hit their head.

For safety, the uniquely designed scooter features a belt to keep you securely fastened to the vehicle. But, similar to side-by-sidesit’s recommended that you keep your hands inside the vehicle in case of an accident.

Even in the case of side-by-sides that have protective cages, wearing helmets is still recommended. But it seems that BMW is really emphasizing that, for the Vision CE Conceptthis is not necessary.

The brand has yet to reveal many technical details, but the concept is based on the platform of the CE 04which delivers about 42 hp and a top speed of 120 km/h, making it ideal for urban use and quick highway commutes.

Despite theories suggesting this might be a joke, BMW has assured that it’s serious. The concept will be showcased at the Munich Motor Show starting on September 8. It’s expected that the company will provide more details about the concept at that time.
