BMW has officially unveiled the new iX3, the first mass-production model of the Neue Klasse line, marking a new era for the brand in the electric vehicle segment.
The fully electric SUV arrives with impressive figures: up to 805 km of WLTP range and 469 hp of power, delivered by the xDrive electric all-wheel-drive system.
Equipped with the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology, the iX3 combines two electric motors — a rear synchronous (EESM) and a front asynchronous (ASM) — which together produce 345 kW (469 hp) and 645 Nm of torque. Performance includes acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.
The high-voltage battery has a usable capacity of 108.7 kWh and is integrated into the vehicle’s structural architecture, contributing to greater efficiency and weight reduction. The model also debuts 800V ultra-fast charging technology, allowing 10 to 80% recharge in just 21 minutes and up to 372 km of range recovered in 10 minutes at 400 kW stations.
Design and interior
The new iX3 introduces BMW’s design language for the Neue Klasse, with cleaner lines, robust proportions, and an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.24 Cd. Inside, the highlight is the BMW Panoramic iDrive system, which projects information across the entire width of the windshield and is paired with the new BMW Operating System X, offering enhanced digital integration and customization.
The dedicated EV architecture optimizes interior space, ensuring comfort for five passengers and up to 1,750 liters of cargo capacity with the rear seats folded.
Sustainability and production
With a focus on circularity, around one-third of the materials used in the iX3 are recycled, and BMW claims that the carbon footprint throughout its life cycle is up to 34% lower than its predecessor. Production will take place at the brand’s new plant in Debrecen, Hungary, without the use of fossil fuels.
Global launch
The BMW iX3 50 xDrive will be the first version to hit the market, debuting in Europe in spring 2026 and in the United States in summer of the same year. Later, new variants, including an entry-level option, will be added to the lineup.
