Sheinelle Jones has remained absent from the Today show in recent months, leaving fans concerned after she stepped away earlier this year due to what was initially described as a “family health matter.” Her absence began around January and included Feast’s farewell episode, prompting questions about when she might return.

On May 23, 2025, it was revealed that Jones’ husband, Fitnessdied following a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. During a heartfelt tribute on Todayco-host Savannah Guthrie remembered Ojeh as “a man whose joyful spirit and quiet strength complemented Sheinelle in every way.” Craig Melvin added, “He was that dad on the sideline at every soccer game, at all the concerts and recitals. He was that guy.”

Sheinelle began her career with Today in 2014, starting on weekends and gradually working her way up to co-host, allowing her to appear several times a week.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight published April 30, her Today co-hosts addressed her ongoing absence from the show. “I don’t know anything about when or the timeline [for her return]but we always think about her,” Carson Daly told ETadding that they “talk about [Jones] probably every day.”

Daly, who also hosts The Voiceadded, “We’re wishing her well, and she’s spending much-needed time with her family. That’ll just take its course. There’s so much love going out to her.”
