The Zmiy-500 ground drone, from the Khartiia Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard, successfully carried out a rescue mission by evacuating an injured soldier from the frontline.
Scheduled to deliver essential supplies such as water, fuel, and provisions, the drone also performed an emergency transport of the soldier, who had a severe leg injury.
Facing rugged terrain and the constant threat of enemy drones, the Zmiy-500 traveled 34 kilometers to the evacuation point, overcoming obstacles with precision and efficiency.
The quick action and exact coordination of the team were crucial in saving the soldier’s life, as delays could have worsened his condition.
This autonomous vehicle, approved for use by Ukraine’s Defense Forces in 2024, weighs 850 kg and can carry up to 500 kg of cargo. The operation reinforces the role of robotic systems in logistical support and rescue missions in conflict zones.

The main obstacle of the robotic operation is a complex and broken path to the evacuation site, as well as a constant threat from enemy UAVs.
Nevertheless, the drone managed to walk carefully and safely on heavy field roads and deliver the fighter to the Medevak. pic.twitter.com/4zMemya4YZ
