Zambelli’s defense says hearing was closed after discomfort; Representative will remain in prison

Licensed federal lawyer Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), Fábio Pagnozzi, said she was ill during a judicial hearing in Italy on Wednesday (13), and had to be taken to a hospital. With this, according to the defender, the hearing at the court court was closed and there was no reassessment of Zambelli’s arrest. She will remain trapped until the Italian court evaluates her health condition. According to Pagnozzi, the defendant’s defense in Italy will present an 84 -page document with medical opinions. The objective is to claim that Zambelli awaits the decision on extradition in freedom or house arrest. Also according to the lawyer, the judge of the court of appeal should determine that an official medical expert makes an assessment of the health of the deputy, and only then decide whether or not to maintain the arrest. Considered a fugitive from Brazilian justice, Zambelli appeared on Wednesday to a court of Rome, Italian capital, for a hearing within the process in which the European country’s court analyzes its extradition to Brazil.
