This Saturday (30), died Brazilian writer Luís Fernando Veríssimo, at the age of 88, in Porto Alegre (RS). Considered one of the most successful authors in the country, he could not resist complications arising from pneumonia. He had been hospitalized since August 11.
The time of his death was 00:40, released by the Moinhos de Vento Hospital. The funeral will be held today at noon at the Legislative Assembly of Porto Alegre.
The writer leaves his wife and three children. He was the son of Érico Verissimo, whose author also known for his writings.
The gaucho stood out as one of the most popular writers in contemporary Brazil, being recognized for his sharp humor and unpaid social criticism, which became their trademarks. In addition, he stood out for his ability to mix acidic mood, irony and insightful social criticism. Without ever being attached to taboos, he explored various themes, from politics to everyday relations, becoming one of the greatest references of modern Brazilian literature.
Verissimo published more than 80 works in his entire career. Among the best known are the popular, the great naked woman and the bag analystand.
