The US government, through the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, announced on Friday (29) that they will revoke visas from members of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority (AP) before the next UN General Assembly, which will take place at the end of September.

In the statement, Rubio says he acts “according to American law” and that “is of national interest [dos EUA] Ask OLP and ANP accounts for not fulfilling their commitments and undermine peace efforts. “

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas himself intended to personally attend the General Assembly and speak on behalf of his country, according to UN Palestinian Ambassador Riyad Mansour.

Asked about the exact consequences of the American measure, Mansour said, “Let’s see exactly what that means and how it applies to our delegation.”

According to information from EFE Agency, a US Department spokesman detailed that the permanent diplomatic mission headed by Mansour “will have an exemption [da medida] Due to the agreement with the UN headquarters “but did not comment on the case of President Abbas.

This US movement on Palestinian visas occurs at a time when countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada said they were willing to recognize the Palestinian state.

Israel thanks the US

Israel Foreign Minister Gideon Saar thanked the United States authorities on Friday for the decision to deny and revoke the visas of Palestinian diplomats.

“Thanks Secretary Rubio for demanding responsibilities from ‘PLO’ (Organization for Liberation of Palestine) and ANP (Palestinian National Authority) for rewarding terrorism, inciting and trying to use legal war against Israel,” Saar said on a message on the social network X.

The minister also thanked US President Donald Trump for his continuous support to the country.
