In November 2020, the US Security Department tried to implement this same pilot project for the first time. At the time, the affected countries would be 24: Afghanistan, Angola, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Burma, Burundi, Cape Verde, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibuti, Eritreia, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Iran, Laos, Liberia, Libya, Mauritânia, Papua New Guinea, San Tome and Prince, Sudan Syria and Yemen.
