In June this year, the US Supreme Court issued a decision that paved the way to turn a proposal from Donald Trump that aims to ban US citizenship to children of tourists born in the country. Citizenship by birth makes any person born in the country an American citizen, including children born to mothers who were in the country illegally. The law was consecrated shortly after the civil war in the 14th Constitution Amendment.
