The United States House Supervision Committee summoned the Justice Department (DOJ) and former republican parties (President Donald Trump) and Democrat, including former President Bill Clinton (1993-2001) and his wife, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, to obtain information about the case of financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused to lead a sex trafficking scheme involving minors.
According to information from CNN, the Justice Department was summoned to provide Congress all Epstein’s archives in his inauguration, with the names of the omitted victims, as well as messages between former Joe Biden government employees (2021-2025) and the doj about the case.
The Committee, from a republican majority, also summoned ten people to testify to closed doors between this month and October.
In addition to Hillary and Bill Clinton, former Attorney General Merrick Garland, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder and Alberto Gonzales were summoned; the former FBI director James Comey; and former special counselor and former FBI director Robert Mueller III.
Bill Clinton has been mentioned at other times of press coverage about the Epstein case, such as in January last year, when a new wave of confidential documents raised by the United States court pointed out a witness report that former Democratic president would have pressure to make Vanity Fair magazine not report on crimes committed by the financier.
In a statement released at the time, Graydon Carter, editor of Vanity Fair between 1992 and 2017, said the pressure reported by the witness “categorically did not happen.”
Trump currently faces wear and tear at his base because his government confirmed that Epstein’s death in 2019, when waiting for trial on sexual trafficking, was a suicide and because he claimed that a list of famous clients from the financier does not exist, contrary to theories of supporters of the president.
Last month, Trump announced a lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), which he pointed out in reports that the Republican representative would have sent a letter with a birthday message to Epstein with a naked woman drawing and that the current US Attorney General Pam Bondi would have informed in May that his name was in the case files.
Trump denied the accusations and claimed that the repercussion of the case in the American press would be an attempt by the democratic opposition to destabilize him.
