Ukraine has received its eighth medium-distance air defense system IRIS-T SLM from Germany-the second that was delivered in 2025.
The information was announced by the German Aid to Ukraine project, which follows Berlin’s military support to KYIV.
“According to my information, Ukraine received its eighth IRIS-T SLM system two weeks ago, as part of the constant military support of Germany. This further strengthened the capacities of the Ukrainian Air Force,” the author of the project reported.
With this delivery, the German government has already transferred two of the four to 2025 systems.

According to the project, there is a typical system that is supplied to Ukraine from:

- 2 IRIS-T SLS short-term lancing devices
- Trml-4D-radar
- Commandocentrum
- Reload vehicle
- Mobile Spare Parts Magazine
- Mobile workplace
Each system has a range of up to 40 km under ideal conditions and is very effective against drones, cruise missiles, enemy aircraft and other goals up to an altitude of 20 km.
In June 2025, a unit of the LVIV anti-aircraft rocket brigade shot during her first fight with the IRIS-T SLM Seven Russian cruise missiles, with which the old Soviet S-300-Systems were gradually replaced.
“During the defense of a massive rocket and air raid, seven Russian rockets arrived our destruction zone. We shot them one by one,” said commander Vitaliy.
The Iris-T, originally an infrared air-air rocket, was adapted for launch from the ground. The SLM version can touch goals up to 40 km, while the SLS version has a range of up to 12 km.
Since the start of the Russian invasion, partner countries have ordered 18 IRIS-T SLM systems for Ukraine:
