US President Donald Trump said last Sunday that he defends the idea of the Ukrainian government to give part of its territory to Russia. At the time, the Republican republished a message on his social network, the Truth Socialwhich said that “Ukraine must be willing to lose some territory to Russia, otherwise the longer the war, the more territory will lose.”
Later, the White House chief returned to the networks and said his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky “could end the war almost immediately.” The conditions imposed by Trump involve: “No recovering Crimea given by Obama (12 years ago, without a single shot!) And nothing to enter NATO by Ukraine,” he said.
“Some things never change !!!”, he added.
Trump’s publication comes days after the American summit with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Alaska. At the time, the meeting that aimed to find a solution to reach a ceasefire in the Eastern European war was not achieved, but was celebrated by both leaders.
Last Sunday, European heads of state meet online with Zelensky where they reaffirmed the bloc’s support for the Ukrainian government.
This Monday is expected to be a meeting in Washington between Zelensky, Trump and other European leaders such as German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz; French President Emmanuel Macron; British Prime Minister Keir Strmer; The Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni; Finnish President Alexander Stubb, as well as NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.
