United States President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he intends to sign an executive order to demand electoral identification of all citizens in future claims. The measure, he said, would aim to ensure greater security in the voting process. The announcement was made in publication on the social network Truth Social.

In the message, Trump stated that “the voter’s identity should be included in all votes. Without exceptions!” He also added that he intends to restrict the vote by mail, allowing the appeal to seriously patients and military people on duty abroad. “Use only paper banknotes !!!” wrote the president in a emphatic tone.

The Republican has repeatedly criticized the American electoral system. He claims, without evidence, that the defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 elections was the result of “a widespread fraud.” Since then, the president has intensified criticism of the electronic ballot boxes, advocating the use of printed banknotes and manual counting.

According to Trump, the watermark paper would be “sophisticated and accurate”, as well as “faster and leaving no doubt about who won and who lost the election.” Already the voting machines, he said, would cost “ten times more” and would be less reliable. The speech goes against what electoral authorities claim, who consider manual counting slower, expensive and less accurate than electronics.
