Trump Management invites Eduardo Bolsonaro for conversations

Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) and journalist Paulo Figueiredo were invited by Donald Trump management for new conversations next week.

According to information from the blog of journalist Débora Bergamasco on the CNN Brazil website, meetings with US government officials and assistants of Donald Trump will take place in Washington on Wednesday (13) and Thursday (14), meetings in which the two Brazilians will give updated information on political and legal issues in Brazil. ”

CNN Brasil reported that Eduardo Bolsonaro and Figueiredo are working so that the Trump administration does not apply sanctions on other Federal Supreme Court (STF) ministers and no longer impose rates on imported products from Brazil since former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) had a house arrest decreed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes on Monday (4).

This week, the Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and US Public Affairs, Darren Beattie, posted a message in the X (which was later shared by the American Embassy in Brazil) warning that “allies of Moraes in the judiciary and other spheres” should not “support or facilitate the conduct of Moraes”.

On Wednesday (6), a 50% rate came into force on the importation of Brazilian products imposed by Washington.

The Trump administration mentioned as one of the reasons for the tariff the lawsuit against Jair Bolsonaro in the Supreme Court on accusations of attempted coup after the 2022 election, judgment that the republican management considers a “witch hunt.”

However, the rate was not applied to about 700 Brazilian products, including orange juice and pulp and civil aircraft.

Last week, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against Moraes based on magnitsky law, United States legislation that allows Washington to apply sanctions against accused of human rights violations and corruption worldwide.

Measures of the Treasury Department against Moraes include blockade of all his assets in the United States or in possession or control of Americans; Blocking of companies or other organizations that have a 50% or more participation of the minister; and prohibition of people in the United States or in transit in the US territory to make financial and commercial transactions with the judge, except in the event of a license issued by the US foreign asset control agency (OFAC).

Earlier, on the 18th, the State Department had announced the revocation of the Moraes visas, of “his allies” in the Supreme Court and his family members, who are prevented from entering the United States.
