United States President Donald Trump said on Sunday, in a social media publication that homeless people in Washington should leave the city “immediately.” The statement was made by announcing that it will hold, on Monday (11), a press conference at the White House to present its plan to combat crime in the US capital.
In the post, Trump shared photos of camps, trash scattered and people sleeping in front of buildings. According to him, the goal is to “make the capital safer and more beautiful than ever.”
“Street residents need to leave immediately. We will offer places for you to stay, but away from the capital,” wrote the president.
Trump also stated that he does not intend to remove criminals from the city, but to arrest them.
“Let’s put them in jail where they belong. Everything will happen very fast, just like on the border. We’ve moved from millions going to zero in recent months. This will be easier. Get ready! There will be no ‘Mr. Bonzinho’. We want our capital back,” he added.
