Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of “F1: The Movie”, told Entertainment Weekly that he and director Joseph Kosinski had to convince the Formula 1 lead that none of the real teams would be portrayed as villains.
The manufacturer, who previously collaborated with Nascar in the 1990 Thunder, said the experience was very reminiscent of working with Formula 1.
“They were very cooperative. They gave us access to the tracks, to the drivers. They were wonderful partners to work with,” Bruckheimer said, adding that it was a period when they considered the approach to the film.
He also talked about the concern of the sports leaders. “We had to do with ten teams, and they were worried that one of them would be portrayed as the villain,” he explained.

“Considering that Mercedes built our car and that Lewis Hamilton is a co -producer, they would certainly think that Red Bull was the villain, because that season was a real rivalry between the two teams,” said the producer.
When the director showed some filming, they got green light.
“Joe put together a video showing how we wanted to place our car into one of the races. He actually did it, and the material was shown to all the drivers and team managers,” Bruckheimer explained.
The story in F1: The Movie portrays the drama of two drivers who have to learn to work together to make their team win the championship again. The film has Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon and Javier Bardem in the lead roles.
