From this Wednesday (27), Sabesp began to reduce water pressure throughout the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
The measure, according to the company, is preventive, temporary and meets a determination of the São Paulo State Public Services Regulatory Agency (Arsesp). The goal is to save water at the low level of reservoirs that supply the region.
The reduction will be applied daily between 21h and 5h. Arsesp’s expectation is to save about 4,000 liters of water per second. The measure will be valid until the springs recover.
Neighborhoods located in higher areas and away from the center of the capital may face water shortages during the period when pressure is reduced.
Until Tuesday night (26), the average level of the Cantareira system was 35.7%, according to the Sabesp Daily Bulletin. The overall average of the reservoirs that serve Greater São Paulo was 38.2%.
