Belarus recorded at least 96 Russian Kamikaze drones invasions in July, a survey by the Flagstaff initiative that is the highest ever.
On the night of July 30 alone, 26 drones were shot down in the domestic airspace. This number is the highest ever, surpassing the previous peak in December and well above the February-June figures.
Residents have reported multiple sightings of drones in areas such as Brahin, Gomeli, Mozil and Narowlya, as well as near the Ukrainian border. In 2023, a total of 145 Shahed drones were identified in Belarus, of which 36 had crossed into Ukrainian territory, and 109 had disappeared from the radar.
At the end of July, another incident was attracting attention, and a drone crashed on the outskirts of Minsk. Authorities have announced it was made in Ukraine, but witnesses and BELPOL group activists have objected, claiming that the drone came from Russia’s direction and that engines were heard north of the Belarus capital.
