In July, Belarus recorded a record number of Russian Kamikaze drone invaders, with at least 96 those flight devices that were discovered in the course of the month, according to the Flagstaff initiative.
In the night of July 30 alone, 26 drones were shot down in the country’s airspace. This volume represents the highest documented number so far, surpasses the previous high in December and is far above the figures registered between February and June.
Residents reported several times about sightings, including drones that flew across regions such as Brahin, Homel, Mozyr and Narowlya, as well as areas near the border with Ukraine. In 2023, a total of 145 Shahed drones were registered in Belarus, 36 of which exceeded the Ukrainian territory and 109 disappeared from the radar screens.
A separate incident attracted attention at the end of July when a drone crashed near Minsk. The authorities stated that it was Ukrainian equipment, but witnesses and activists from the Belpol group contradicted this version and claimed that the aircraft had come from Russia, with engine noises being heard north of the Belarusian capital.
