In the early hours of August 5 to 6, Romania mobilized its F-16 fighters after detecting a Russian Drones offensive against the Ukrainian Odesa region near the Romanian border.
According to Ministry of National Defense of Romaniathe attack reached civil infrastructure in the city of Izmail, and the movement of air targets was identified by Romanian radars near Tulcea County.

Given the threat, the population of the northern region of Tulcea was alerted through the Ro-Alert emergency system, and two F-16 fighters were called to patrol the airspace. Authorities reported that there were no violations of Romanian airspace during the operation.
In Ukraine, the head of the Odesa Regional Administration, Oleh Kiper, confirmed significant damage to gas infrastructure in the attacked area, including the destruction of a main pipeline and production equipment.
The Romanian government vehemently condemned the Russian action, classifying it as a serious violation of international law and a threat to the safety of the region. In May, Romania approved laws authorizing its military force to slaughter enemy drones and to perform defense operations in the national territory even in peacetime.
