Switzerland President Karin Keller-Sutter and Vice President Guy Parmelin traveled to Washington on Tuesday to hold meetings with US authorities to “improve the country’s tariff situation.”
Kaller-Sutter and Parmelin will be accompanied by a small delegation, which includes Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, Helene Budlyiger Artieda, and Finance Secretary Daniela Stoffel.
“The goal is to present a more attractive offer to the United States in an attempt to reduce the level of reciprocal tariffs for Swiss exports, taking into account US concerns,” says the document released by the Swiss government.
The text mentions that the decision of the visit came after an extraordinary meeting on Monday (4), when the Federal Council reaffirmed that it was interested in continuing with negotiations with the United States.
