While Pierce Brosnan famously played 007, this isn’t the most important bond in his life.
That would be the one he shares with his family, including his wife Keely Sharing Brosnan.
“I found a great woman in Keely Shaye,” the actor, 72, told People in 2001. “Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good.”
Though Pierce and Keely weren’t exactly searching for love when they met in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on April 8, 1994.
“4-8-94 was my lucky day,” the journalist , 61, recalled on Instagram 30 years later. “How could I have known as I walked around the corner and into your life that my destiny was about to change forever? Thanking my lucky stars that I had the courage to introduce myself to you and forever grateful for the connection and family we share 3 decades later.”
It was a connection that formed after tragedy. In December 1991, Pierce’s wife of 14 years, Australian actress Cassandra Harrisdied at the age of 39 following a battle with ovarian cancer. Together, the couple had welcomed son Sean41, and the GoldenEye star had adopted her children Charlotte—who passed away at age 41 in 2013 after fighting the same disease—and Christopher52, from a previous relationship.
“There is an incredible cruelty in it all,” Pierce told People in 1992, “losing a person you shared everything with. This is the first time in my life I’ve ever experienced bereavement, and it’s overwhelming.”
