Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a statement on May 21, 2025 Reuters/Ronen Zvulun/Pool The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said Israel that Israel needs to complete the victory over the terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The speech occurs after Israeli TV I12 revealed that Netanyahu decided to take full control of the Gaza Strip. “It is still necessary to conclude the enemy’s defeat in Gaza, free all our hostages and ensure that Gaza no longer represents a threat to Israel. We will not give up any of these tasks. We will fulfill them together through the great sacrifice of our combatants, men and women,” said Netanyahu during a visit to a military training installation. ✅ Click here to follow the G1 international news channel on WhatsApp on the same line as Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday that it is necessary to “take all the necessary measures” to defeat Hamas. Katz also said he will present to the prime minister a plan to achieve this goal. A report from TV I12, made with Israeli government sources, revealed on Monday that Netanyahu intends to expand the offensive that Israel currently wages in Gaza until he sees the entire Palestinian territory, and will meet with his office to communicate the decision on Tuesday. The Israeli government has not officially confirmed the new plan until the last update of this report, but Netanyahu has confirmed the cabinet meeting and said it will present new instructions to the Army to achieve the goals in the war. “We must remain united and fight together to achieve all our war goals: the enemy’s defeat, the liberation of our hostages and the guarantee that Gaza will not represent another threat to Israel,” he said. The expansion of the offensive against Hamas in Gaza, which has had a robust land operation since October 2023 and intensified over time, is considered after the release of videos of skeletal Israeli hostages, which enraged the Israeli government. One hostage stated in video “being on the brink of death,” and another appeared digging his own grave. Palestinians carry aid supplies that entered Gaza through Israel in Beit Lahia, in the north of the Gaza Strip, on July 27, 2025. The plan also involves the entry of the Israeli Armed Forces in areas where the country’s intelligence service has identified that hostage captivity are within the Gaza Strip. The idea of taking Gaza control – a Palestinian territory established on the UN map in the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 – is not new. In May, by authorizing the resumption of humanitarian aid entry into the Gaza Strip, Netanyahu even revealed that controlling the territory was part of a “victory plan” of the war. Earlier, during a visit by the Israeli Prime Minister to the White House, US President Donald Trump announced plans that the US controls Gaza, relocating residents of the territory to neighboring countries and creating luxury resorts at the site.
