Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that the country “will not attach the Gaza Strip” and that a government agency, which gives no details, will temporarily control the Palestinian territory, hours before the security office meets to deal with the matter.
Netanyahu’s statements, released by the Israeli press, were made at a makeshift news conference for Indian journalists after the Meeting between the Premier and the Indian Ambassador in Israel, JP Singh, in his office in Jerusalem.
The Israeli prime minister reiterated that the main objectives of the offensive in the Gaza range remain “the complete destruction of Hamas and the return of all hostages.”
The Palestinian terrorist group and allies still keep 50 hostages, of which only about 20 would remain alive, according to Israel.
Netanyahu brings together the security office on Thursday, which includes several government ministers and part of the military summit, to discuss whether or not they will launch a total occupation in the devastated Gaza Strip.
The main communication vehicles in the country reported that Netanyahu wants to propose to the safety office the expansion of the offensive, including the areas where the hostages are believed to be, and the total occupation of the Palestinian enclave.
Despite the resistance demonstrated by Israel’s defense forces (FDI), the troops would already be preparing the plan, which would have several phases. In the first of these, they would occupy the city of Gaza and would force the displacement of the 1 million Palestinians that focus on the city to the area of Al Mawasi.
Israel would also seek to take control in a second phase of refugee camps in the center of the track, where troop forays have been limited. At all these points, Israel estimates that there are alive hostages.
