The NGO of Human Rights Defense has denounced that mothers of political prisoners and activists from Venezuela were attacked on Tuesday (5) in front of the Supreme Court (TSJ) in Caracas.
According to a statement issued by Processo, the attack by “paramilitary groups” was directed to the vigil that family members and mothers committee activists in defense of the Truth performed in front of the TSJ to charge the revision of cases of political prisoners from Nicolás Maduro dictatorship.
“Mothers were attacked with blunt objects and kicked by members of a ‘paramilitary collective,” the NGO reported. “The tents they set up in front of the Supreme Court (TSJ) were destroyed, and many protesters were victims of theft and other aggression.”
Although Prova has not identified which paramilitary collective performed the attack, it is known that groups of this type have support to the Chavista dictatorship in Venezuela.
“We denounce that the lack of protection of the manifestation by security bodies may have led to this latest attack on social protest,” said Prova.
“With the lack of attention shown today by the Supreme Court’s authorities and the lack of protection to peaceful protesters by police authorities, the authorities are revitimizing those who have long denounced serious abuse,” he added.
The TSJ, dominated by Chavismo, ratified last year the fraudulent results of the National Electoral Council (CNE), which gave victory to mature in the July presidential election.
The organization that carried out the vigil in front of the TSJ asks for the review of the cases of detainees in the demonstrations in repudiation of the 2024 electoral fraud and claims that none of the targets of this repression has been released since March.
According to the latest bulletin of another Venezuelan NGO, the criminal forum, today Venezuela has 807 political prisoners.
