Madrid Forum criticizes Bolsonaro’s house arrest

by Marcelo Moreira

The Madrid Forum, an organization that brings together Ibero-American right-wing politicians, released on Tuesday (5) a note on its social networks in which it criticized the decree of house arrest of former President Jair Bolsonaro by the Supreme Court Minister (STF) Alexandre de Moraes.

In the text, the forum states that “the judicial dictatorship in Brazil is no longer disguised.”

“Bolsonaro is silenced and charged without evidence, without judgment and without condemnation. It is a clear abuse of power for political purposes, in the style of Castro-Communist regimes, the leader of the Los Soles cartel, Nicolás Maduro, and the criminal marriage of [Daniel] Ortega [Rosario] Murillo [ditador e primeira-dama e vice-presidente da Nicarágua, respectivamente]”, Said the organization.

“[O presidente Luiz Inácio] Lula da Silva and Moraes redouble the harassment, desperate in the face of a phenomenon that cannot control: the streets of Brazil continue to be filled with citizens who reject the authoritarian direction of the regime. They fear Bolsonaro because he represents millions that oppose his totalitarian project, ”added the Madrid Forum, created in 2020 by the Think Tank Foundation Dissenso, from the Spanish Party Vox.

“The reason for their violence is fear: fear because they are lost, fear because millions of Brazilians face them without fear, fear because the whole international community already knows how they operate, despite the accomplice silence of many forces and political leaders – including those who say ‘not from the left’ – and that even today embraces the founder of the São Paulo forum alongside Fidel Castro,” added the forum of Madrid.
