Kevin Gates‘ marriage to Dreka Gates is ending.
The “I Don’t Get Tired” rapper’s wife of nine years filed for divorce on July 30, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the breakup in court documents obtained by E! News.
Dreka is asking the court for joint legal and physical custody the couple’s kids Countless12, and Khaza11, as well as spousal support from Kevin.
Interestingly, the entrepreneur listed the date of separation as July 10, nearly one month after Basketball Wives‘ Brittany Renner revealed that she had “married” Kevin.
“We got married April 6 and divorced May 28,” Brittany told radio station Real 92.3 la in a June 7 interview. “But there is a 90-day waiting period in Islam where it’s basically—you have 90 days to see if you’re pregnant, then he would be responsible.”
Explaining that the three-month period is also meant to encourage a reconciliation because “Allah wants you to stay married,” the reality star added, “During those 90 days, you are not to entertain anybody romantically.”
