You’re gonna hear Katy Perry roar about her latest milestone.
After selling out Madison Square Garden during the Aug. 11 stop on her Lifetimes Tour, the 40-year-old had a message for the haters who said that she couldn’t do it.
“They said, ‘No way! MSG, it couldn’t be done.,’” Katy told the crowd of 19,500 inside of the iconic NYC venue, per People. “And I was scared too.”
“I rolled into New York, and it smelled like New York City. And you know what I’m talking about,” Katy told the crowd. “It was late at night. We got in from Philly, and there were drunk people vomiting on the same corner as people making out. That was New York City. And I loved it.”
And despite traveling to New York City multiple times in her life, Katy admitted that she finally sees the “allure” in the Big Apple.
“You know why? Because New York City represents life,” Katy—who shares daughter Daisy Dove4, with ex Orlando Bloom said. “The highs, the lows, the in-betweens, everything that is messy, everything that is beautiful, and it sure as hell is not perfect ‘cause perfection is an illusion. And I understood it because I resonate with it so much, because one of my favorite words is authenticity. And you know what New York is? Authentic.”
