It’s #Fake: Old storm videos circulate like tsunami in Russia in 2025 reproduction circulate on social networks posts with videos showing waves invading avenues and residential areas. Captions claim that they are Tsunami records that hit Russia and part of Japan on Tuesday (29)-morning of Wednesday (30), for local time. It’s #fake. Seal #Fake G1 🛑 How are the videos? A post published on X on Wednesday (30) shows a compiled four videos. The legend of the content – which had over 1.5 million views – says, “Japan now, while Tsunami’s waves begin. It’s huge, my God! Strong earthquake in Russia.” But the four videos are 2023, not recent. The first one displays the moment when the water hits an avenue, dragging cars and causing an explosion on a pole. In the second, the courtyard of a set of buildings appears flooded. The third recording was filmed from a balcony and displays a hectic sea. And the last one has a big wave coming to the sand strip and advancing the beach. On the night of Tuesday (29), an earthquake of magnitude 8.8 caused a tsunami on the Kamtchatka peninsula in eastern Russia. The waves also affected northern Japan, part of the west coast of North America and the Pacific Central (read details at the end of this report). ⚠️ Why is this a liar? Although they are real – not content generated by Artificial Intelligence (IA) – the videos are out of context: they are storm records years ago. None of them display images related to Russia’s tsunami. The fact or fake used the Invid platform to fragment the material into various frames (static images). Then he searched these “photos” on Google Lens and Yandex (Google -like Russian search engine). These tools allow you to find the source of materials on the internet by pointing older publications in which they appeared. The first video is on November 27, 2023 and was recorded in Tirebolu, Turkey. At the time, a strong storm hit the Black Sea and devastated coastal cities. On November 26 of the same year, a cyclone caused large waves in cities in southern Russia. This is what we can see in the second and fourth recording, which show water reaching tourist areas in Sochi, Russian city bathed by the Black Sea. According to Reuters news agency, the storm also hit Crimea and left three dead. Although it was not possible to specify exactly the place that appears in the third video of the viral post, the images seen there appear in posts published in X also in November 2023. That is: they could not be related to Tuesday’s tsunami in Russia. 🎯 What is the context of fake? On Tuesday night, an 8.8 magnitude earthquake on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia caused a tsunami. Terromot is the strongest since 2011, when tremors and tsunami have hit Fukushima, Japan. Until the last update of this report, deaths had been recorded. The most severe impacts of tsunami were recorded in the Far East Russian. Alerts extended to Japan, some countries in America and island regions.
