Helen Mirren is sharing some little-known knowledge about tomatoes.
“A tomato is a bisexual thing, you see,” Helen declared during the Aug. 11 episode of The Tonight Show as Jimmy Fallon prepared a homemade salsa, prompting the audience to gasp. “Well, it is!”
The Thursday Murder Club Star80, who appeared on the late-night show alongside costar Pierce Brosnanexplained that she made the discovery “very recently” after she “had a problem” cultivating her own tomatoes.
“I just want to give you a tip about growing tomatoes,” Helen offered. “You know the little flower? Well, a good way to get a tomato out of a flower is you have to tremble the flower.”
But as the Oscar winner demonstrated her trick with her index finger, Jimmy, 50, rejected the unlikely gardening hack.
“Stop doing that,” he responded with an uneasy laugh. “I’m not doing that at all to my tomatoes.”
