The National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS) has determined that private plans will have to offer hormonal contraceptive implants on mandatory coverage. It is popularly known as Impnon. The procedure was also recently approved for use in the Unified Health System (SUS).
According to the Ministry of Health, the option is considered advantageous in relation to the other contraceptives due to the long duration (acts on the body for up to three years) and high effectiveness.
Assistance coverage for all people between 18 and 49 years in preventing unpaid pregnancy will begin to apply from September 1st.
