The Armed Forces and Guyana police reported on Sunday (31) that a country vessel was shot from Venezuela while carrying material to the general elections scheduled for this Monday (1st).

The Guianense patrol boat, which escorted military, police and electoral officials responsible for bringing ballot boxes and documents to remote areas, was shot from the Venezuelan coast.
According to the agency, the Guyana military reacted immediately and managed to remove the escort team from the shooting line. No one was injured, and the electoral material was not damaged.
The complaint rekindles the tension on the border on the eve of the vote that will define the new president and Parliament of the Caribbean country, of about 850 thousand inhabitants. Essequibo, an area rich in oil and natural resources, is claimed by Venezuela, which has intensified its actions in the region in recent years.
