The federal government announced on Wednesday (13) a package of $ 30 billion in credit for companies affected by the 50% fare imposed by the United States.
The package will be implemented through the Sovereign Brazil Provisional Measure. It aims to preserve jobs, strengthen small businesses and open new markets for affected sectors.
During the launch at Planalto Palace, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad classified sanctions as “unjustifiable.” He stated that Brazil is retaliated because it is more democratic than the aggressor.
Haddad pointed out that the country does not pursue political opponents, the press, universities, lawyers or immigrants, but still faces economic and political punishments.
President Lula said the support will prioritize small companies and exporters of perishable food, such as fruits, honey and spinach, as well as machinery manufacturers.
In an interview with BandNews on Tuesday (12), Lula stated that large companies have more ability to resist and that the goal is to ensure that “no one is helpless by President Trump’s taxation.”
The package includes extraordinary credit lines, outside the tax frame spending ceiling. This mechanism helped victims of floods in Rio Grande do Sul in 2024.
The government will also seek alternative markets for affected companies. He will send to other countries Brazilian export lists that the US had the main destination.
