Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) requested the President of the House of Representatives, Hugo Motta, to hold the term abroad. Former President Jair Bolsonaro’s son has been in the United States since the end of February this year and claimed to have left Brazil for suffering political and legal persecution.
Eduardo Bolsonaro graduated from his term in March and since the return of parliamentary recess in early August, when he should have resumed, he accumulates unjustified absences. In the letter sent to Motta, the deputy asks the house to create mechanisms so that he can perform the function remotely. As an argument, he says that similar flexibilities have already been adopted in the Covid-19 pandemic and also states that he will not resign, as he has performed the parliamentary function in agendas in the United States. Since arriving in the country, Eduardo has met with representatives of the US government.
The parliamentarian is appointed by the opposition as responsible for the sanctions imposed on Brazilian products and the ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the Lula administration. Eduardo and his father were indicted by the Federal Police for trying to influence the course of the STF lawsuits against former President Jair Bolsonaro through the economic sanctions imposed by Donald Trump on Brazil.
