A driver received a fine of more than $ 1,000 after being caught walking at 320 km/h on a stretch of a German highway whose limit is 120 km/h.

The case happened at Autobahn on the west side of Berlin, according to the German police. The driver, who was not identified, was caught as he ran down the A2 highway near Burg on July 28.

He then received a fine of 900 euros (the equivalent of about $ 1,043), received two points in his driver’s license and he was forbidden to drive for three months, Magdeburg police said on Tuesday (5).

The “record speed” was recorded by a roadside radar known as “inspection trailer” during a routine inspection. The reading on the display showed that he was 321 km/h, police said.

Germany’s Autobahns gained fame from the absence of speed limits. However, this rule is not universal and some excerpts from the highway are subject to speed limits. The stretch of the highway where the driver was caught, for example, has a limit of 120 km/h.
