Donald Trump’s special envoy meets in Tel Aviv with families of Israeli hostages

by Marcelo Moreira

Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East met on Saturday (2) in Tel Aviv, with the families of Israeli hostages that remain in captivity in the Gaza Strip.

Surrounded by security guards, Steve Witkoff went to the hostage square in Tel Aviv, where they were relatives of the 49 hostages that remain in captivity, kidnapped in October 2023 during the Hamas attack.

On Saturday morning, hundreds of protesters protested in the square that became the meeting point of the hijacked families and those who demand the end of the conflict.

This Thursday (31), Steve Witkoff met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem in an attempt to save truce negotiations in Gaza and face the humanitarian crisis at the enclave.

On Friday (01), Trump’s special envoy said he visited a help distribution point in the southern Gaza Strip. The operation, supported by the United States, faces increasing pressure on the number of dead in the hunger line.
