In response to statements by former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev, US President Donald Trump announced the displacement of two nuclear submarines to strategic regions. The measure, released on his social network, Truth Social, was justified as a preventive action in the face of what he classified as “provocative threats.”
According to Trump, Medvedev-who today holds the position of vice president of the Russian Federation Security Council-made dangerous statements about possible automatic and retaliatory nuclear attacks, evoking military capabilities inherited from the Soviet era. The Republican warned that “words have weight” and can cause “unintentional consequences”, reinforcing that this is not the case.
Medvedev’s comment occurred after Trump publicly suggested that the former Russian president should “measure his words.”
