COP30: Organization retreats and releases sales of acai and typical Pará foods during an event in Belém

by Marcelo Moreira

The organization of the Ibero-American states retreated and released the sale of acai and other typical foods of Pará by hired establishments for COP30, which will be held in Belém in November.

After the intervention of the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, foods such as Acai, Tacacá and Maniçoba were again authorized in the restaurants and kiosks of the event.

The controversy began when the organization of Ibero-American states published a notice with the rules for the selection of gastronomic operators that will act during the United Nations Conference on Climate Change.

The initial document prohibited the sale of traditional dishes of the Amazon region, generating criticism for devaluing local culture.

The announcement has been republished with some adjustments and now the typical Amazon products are released to be marketed at COP30 power points.
