Last Friday (29), the São Paulo General Warehouses and Warehouses Company (Ceagesp) announced an agreement with the merchants of the warehouse (goods distribution center) for the return of R $ 59 million related to the property tax, improperly paid between 2017 and 2022.

The campaign to return the value to traders began in June 2025 and is being staggered, with priorities for low -income traders. To receive the refund, the merchant must be regular with his financial issues with CEAGESP.

The amount of R $ 59 million represents 66% of the R $ 90 million that must be refunded to CEAGESP permits. To date, R $ 56 million have been returned to 1,415 traders, and in total, 3,029 traders are entitled to this refund.

José Lourenço Pechtoll, CEAGESP CEO, stressed that the return is being done in an organized and transparent manner, ensuring that the criteria used are safe for all involved. He also stressed that the process is the result of a constructive dialogue between Ceagesp and the traders.

Paulo Teixeira, Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Farming (MDA), spoke about the modernization of CEAGESP. He said the company is undergoing an evolution process to improve its management and operation. In addition to the return of the property tax, Ceagesp paid $ 2 million in fines and dividends that owed to the government, registering a profit of $ 14 million in the process. R $ 3.3 million in profits were also distributed to its employees.
