Allies of former President Jair Bolsonaro held demonstrations this weekend in several cities in Brazil. The acts had as main guidelines support to the former president and the impeachment request of the Supreme Court Minister (STF), Alexandre de Moraes.
Despite the mobilization, Jair Bolsonaro did not participate in any demonstration. The former president is forbidden to leave home on weekends by determination of the Supreme Court. The decision was made by Moraes, following requests from the Federal Police and the PGR, aiming to avoid interference in the process that investigates an attempted coup d’état attributed to Bolsonaro.
In addition to the nightly home collection and full on weekends, holidays and days off, the former president is forced to wear an electronic anklet. He is also forbidden to use social networks, to maintain contact with foreign ambassadors and diplomats, as well as with other investigated and defendants in the inquiry, including Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro.
The STF’s decision also imposes the minimum removal of 200 meters from any embassy or consulate with diplomatic representation in Brazil.
