Next Sunday, the 17th, Bolivia will hold presidential elections. Two candidates lead voting intentions for the position: businessman Samuel Medina and former President Jorge Quiroga. The two are right -wing parties. It is the first time in 20 years that no leftist president has been in the dispute for the presidency of the country. Bolivia is undergoing an economic crisis, caused by interventionist and populist policies, lacking basic items such as food, fuel and dollars for purchase and sale. Luis Arce, current president, has sold out international dollar reserves with government assists, raising inflation in the country by over 25% since 2008.
Arce, during his term, was importing in dollars; Gasoline, wheat and diesel, selling to Bolivian companies at less high prices. With dollar shortages, products and posts are missing products. 44% of Bolivians are under the poverty line.
