A 36 -year -old woman died during rappelling at Pedra do Elefante, located in Andradas, southern Minas Gerais. According to information from the Fire Department, she was from Sao Paulo and had experience in the sport.
The group that performed the route consisted of three people. During the descent in rappelling, with 100 meters to the base of the mountain, the woman suffered a drop between the rocky wall and the vegetation. The other two people found the victim without vital signs.
The military walked six kilometers for closed forest trails to remove the body. Due to the difficult terrain, the transportation was made to a point where the funeral team was waiting for the referral to the Poço de Caldas Legal Medical Institute (IML).
The Civil Police will be responsible for expert work and investigation of the causes of the accident.
