John Stamos is ready to be a hit around here.
The Full House alum revealed that he will serve as the last-minute replacement for Josh Gad in an upcoming theater production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl, which stars Cynthia Erivo in the titular role and runs for one weekend from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3.
“Well… this weekend just got Biblical,” John wrote in a July 31 Instagram post. “I’m stepping in as King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at the @HollywoodBowl, starring the brilliant @cynthiaerivo.”
And John also provided insight into why he was taking on the role of King Herod for Josh.
“King @Joshgad unexpectedly got hit with COVID (feel better soon, brother!),” he continued, “and while I didn’t push him down the stairs, I am grateful for the chance to step into the gold lamé.”
Indeed, John was so overjoyed to meet Jesus Christ Superstar face to face that he arrived at rehearsals immediately after coming off tour with The Beach Boyswhere he joined the band as a guest performer in Europe.
