China began series production of the fifth generation stealth fighter Shenyang J-35, as revealed by “accidentally” transmitted images by state station CCTV.
The record was made during a report on the J-15T boarded fighter, but drew attention by showing to the background four J-35 units being completed at the AVIC plant in Shenyang.
One of the aircraft captured in the images displays extended stop hook, a clear sign that this is the naval version of the fighter, designed to operate on the new Chinese Fujian aircraft carrier-the most advanced vessel of its fleet.
The J-35 is a direct result of the evolution of prototype FC-31 (or J-31) and underwent wide reformulation to meet Chinese naval aviation requirements. In addition to the shipped version, manufacturer Shenyang Aircraft Corporation is also developing a terrestrial version (J-35A) and a possible export variant, whereby Pakistan has already shown interest, according to sources in the sector.
Rumors about the beginning of series production circulated since a J-35 was caught in a formation flight with a prototype. However, recent images dissipate any doubts and confirm that the fighter has officially entered the large -scale manufacturing phase.
In the last image released, observers highlight the way the landing hook can be collected, contributing to the reduction of the aircraft’s radar signature – an essential resource in stealth operations.
