A start of fire aboard a Boeing 737-800registered G-RUKN, forced the crew to carry out an emergency evacuation, causing 18 injured-six of which were hospitalized.
The RK3446 flight, bound for Manchester, was still rolling on the track when the commander reported to air controllers a “partial fire in the engine”, according to initial information. After informing the passengers, the crew started the emergency evacuation procedures.
During the evacuation, some panicked passengers jumped directly from the wings of the aircraft to the ground. The rescue and emergency teams intervened quickly and provided first aid on the spot.
